3’ x 3’, dense. Buds strong reddish-purple (72C). Flowers strong reddish-purple with slightly lighter margins and strong purplish-red spots (67A) on the lower portion of upper lobes. Double with 20 frilly-edged lobes, 2 per terminal, 3” x 1” long. Blooms midseason; early to mid May in Springfield, VA. Calyx strong yellow-green (141D), 0.38” long. Leaves semiglossy, moderate olive-green (137A) above. Leaf shape: elliptic, broadly acute apex, cuneate base, 2 ½” x 1” wide. Plant and bud hardy to 0˚F, at least.
